Wenzler wins Barbasol Open qualifier at Boone’s Trace

The Barbasol Championship added four golfers to the field following its open qualifier, which was held on Monday at Boone’s Trace National Golf Club in Richmond.

Of the 48 in Monday’s field, Ryan Wenzler owned the top qualifying spot after he just missed the course record by a stroke, posting a 10-under-par 62. Through his first eight holes, the Dayton, Ohio, native was 7-under par and ultimately made the turn with a 29 on his scorecard, which propelled him to a new career-low score.

Former UNLV golfer John Oda sealed a spot in the upcoming PGA Tour event following his 64, while Domenico Geminiani, of Bradenton, Fla., qualified for the field with a 66. New Jersey’s Kevin Foley shot 67 and claimed the fourth and final qualifying spot after being the last man standing in a seven-man playoff.
